In-House Sunday Travel (PTT)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is In-House Sunday Travel ball?

  • This is an in-house travel league that offers more competitive softball games on Sundays
  • There will only be 10 games played which start in early April and run for 10 weeks.
  • Palos Power Softball does not administer this league as we are merely participants.
  • The league is open to 10U, 12U, and 14U players who must also be participants within an in-house program. Palos Power Softball is an in-house program, even if your daughters played in surrounding towns as a part of SSGAL.
  • In addition to the 10 games, there is also an entry into one additional tournament.

Can anyone join Sunday Travel teams?

  • No, girls will need to try out and be selected for an in-house travel team

How will tryouts work and how will the travel teams be selected for the Sunday league?

  • There will be a 1 hour series of drills with a corresponding skills assessment.
  • We will take into consideration game performance i.e., battering average, fielding errors, ability to hit good pitching.

Why do we need to have tryouts now before the season starts?

  • Surrounding towns that participate in the Sunday program form their teams in the fall to allow them to practice over the winter in preparation for the start of the season which is in April .

Will this be the team my daughter will play on after the season ends, which is considered “Summer Tournament Travel”, a.k.a. "July Ball"?

  • No, we will be using game performance during regular season in addition to tryouts to make enhancements to our teams for July games.

What will this cost?

  • So far, we estimate an additional $250 per player which will include a different uniform shirt, game expenses, and indoor hours for Jan-March. Once we have a better feel for total number of players, we will be able to build a better cost structure

How many teams will we have?

  • This depends on the turnout and desire. Because the 10U league will be quite large, we envision we will have multiple travel teams potentially bracketed as A, B, and C. Same with 12 and 14 if we get the numbers. This will also depend on the number of coaches that can handle a game and a practice a week.

Which games/practice takes priority, in-house or travel?

  • In-house takes priority.
  • Practices should never conflict but in the event they do, your daughter should participate on their normal In-house team.
  • Games are only on Sundays which is a day we typically don’t schedule regular season in-house games.

Is this the same as Full-Time Travel?

No, Full-time travel teams do not play in-house games. They only play tournaments during the season and the team plays almost all year round. The goal is to prepare and win tournaments and move onto world series or national type of tournaments.
